Notes
Deep Purple - Deep Purple In Rock (LP, Album, RE, Gat)
This is 1976 - 1980 UK reissue.Actually there are practically no any obvious visual differences between 1976 - 1980 pressings, except insignificant color variations in label background shades of yellow, which vary from yellow-green to lemon-yellow and the figurate sections (incl. logo and the rim text) which vary from green to dark green or even shades of blue.
The pressing year could be approximated by date codes indicated on the inner sleeves.
The main difference from the previous issues:
1) Runouts: A4 / B3. A new master for Side A (A-4) was used for these reissues. The master again was cut by Harry T. Moss - EMI mastering and cutting engineer.
Other main identifiers:
- Laminated gatefold sleeve with 'Printed and Made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.' in most cases have an additional keyline box around the EMI and Harvest logos on the front of the sleeve. But the 1st sleeve variant with a single bold line around the logos is still valid.
- Inner sleeve:
a) EMI inner sleeve with 'Care Of Your Record' box high centre, 'Important Notice' box in low centre and 'Made In Great Britain' above 'Patent Nos. 1125555' near the bottom (since about late 1974 to 1978);
b) EMI inner sleeve with 'Care Of Your Record' box high centre, 'Important Notice' box in low centre and 'Made In Great Britain' above 'Patent Nos. 1125555' with date code near the bottom (since about 1978 to 1980);
c) EMI inner sleeve with 'Care Of Your Record' box high centre, 'Thinking of giving someone a record as a gift?' bubble mid centre, 'Important Notice' box in low centre, 'Made In Great Britain' above 'Patent Nos. 1125555' and with date code near the bottom (since about 1980 to 1982);
- The upper rim text begins with 'EMI RECORDS LTD.' (since about May 1974);
-The inscription 'MADE IN GT. BRITAIN' is inlined with the lower rim text (at the end) under the circular bottom line (since about May 1974 to about 1981);
- Runouts: A4 / B3 (since about 1976 to 1980);
- The boxed 'EMI' logo on labels (since about June 1971);
- Song listing in 2 lines on both sides (since about the second half of 1972);
- The â“… icon (under the 'Side A/B' indicator on labels) is the same size as the year '1970' to the right of it (since about December 1970 / January 1971).
